From Cosmopolitan. Following the cancellation of this year’s summer Love Island and ‘s Winter Love Island it’s understandable if you’re looking for your romantic reality TV fix. Thankfully, it sounds like ITV have just the thing, with their new show airing later this year.
ITV is apparently set to launch a new dating show called The Cabins, with a similar theme to Love Island.
Singletown sees five couples pressing pause on their relationships for one summer in order to live the single life and try dating other people. But with the contestants able to watch their exes cracking on with others, drama is sure to ensue. The first episode sees the couples decide to call it quits before moving into one of two luxurious apartment complexes in London – think along the lines of the infamous Love Island villa, transplanted onto the banks of the Thames.
Mentors and hosts Joel Dommett and Emily Atack are on hand to help the contestants settle in and they do their best to act as matchmakers too. He also admits he has commitment issues after the breakdown of a previous relationship. Selin, 21, and Jeremiah, 23, have had a tumultuous seven-year relationship, with Jeremiah having previously cheated on and broken up with his on-off girlfriend. The first episode will air on September 2 on ITV2 at 9pm and the series will continue on weeknights at the same time.

Just when you thought that Love Island -shaped hole in your life would never diminish, ITV has gone and filled it with new dating show Singletown. Monday September 2 saw the first episode premiere on ITV2, following five couples as they put a time-out on their relationship in order to party as singletons in separate London apartments. At the end of each week, the couples will come back together for the Love Locket Ceremony held by the show’s co-hosts Emily Atack and Joel Dommett , during which they will decide whether to get back together or carry on living their best single life.
The first episode introduced viewers to the couples and their situationships, and they were then separated before being launched into the deep end with a singles party followed by a mixer.

An unscreened pilot episode was made for Channel 4 in , but it was ITV who picked it up for a series. The show was produced by Thames formerly Talkback Thames. The first series was recorded at Granada Studios in Manchester , but has since been recorded at The Maidstone Studios in Maidstone , Kent , as it offered increased space and capacity for audience members. It did not air in , but returned in with Wright joined by new co-host Laura Jackson.
On 10 February , ITV announced that the show was axed after eleven series. Eight couples who met on the show subsequently got married and six babies were born to contestants who met on the show. The objective of the show was for a single man to obtain a date with one of thirty single women. The women stood on a stage underneath thirty white lights, each with a button in front of them.
